Candy or metallic: which to pick for the tank

Candy and metallic are the two most common tank-paint requests, and choosing between them is about more than colour. Candy gives depth from within: translucent layers over a metal base literally glow in the sun, but demand care — a chip shows more.

Metallic is easier to maintain and repair, forgives small scratches and is cheaper to touch up locally. We suggest candy for show and collector bikes, metallic for what you actually ride every day. In both cases the key is preparation and good clear coat.
